What to expect
Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this experience.
Stop at: Isla Esteves shoreline kayak dock, Uros Floating Islands, Uros reed lodge, Lake Titicaca and Puno, Peru.
10:00 am Hotel to kayak launching place
You’ll get a 20-minute car transfer from your downtown hotel to the kayak launching place.
Meet with your guide at the lake shoreline, listen to his safety briefing and get all your gear.
10:30 am Kayaking on the world’s highest Lake
You’ll start kayaking from an off the beaten and genuine gem side of Lake Titicaca National Reserve. You’ll paddle through the maze of reeds when approaching the Islands the water is clear and enjoy the view of the surrounding local landscape, Mountains and local birds.
After one hour, you’ll arrive and disembark at the Lake Titicaca’s premier attraction, the floating Islands of the Uros people (the world’s most innovative feats of human engineering).
Your guide provides a natural and cultural history interpretation of the floating islanders’ innovation that begins with the Islands’ most basic and vital components: the Totora roots and reeds.
Get up close and personal with the local family’s handicrafts and embroideries. You’ll marvel at their simple ingenuity that lives on to this day.
12:30 pm Lake overlooking lunch
Following this experience, you’ll head by kayak to another reed floating Island to have a well-deserved lunch.
The lunch is locally prepared with Trout or chicken, Quinoa cereal grains or rice, fresh vegetables and fruits.
2:00 pm Kayaking from Uros to Puno
Sit in our kayak once again and head back to Puno city through a different waterway.
Your Puno Kayak Tour ends at Isla Esteves kayak disembarking place, your guide/driver takes you to your hotel on a 15-minute car ride.
