Itinerary

This is a typical itinerary for this experience.

Stop at: Puno hotel, Sillustani funeral towers, Hatuncolla local farm houses, Lake Titicaca and Puno, Peru.

3:00 PM – 4:00 pm – Hotel to Sillustani archaeological site

Umayu lagoon at Sillustani

Sillustani Funeral Tower Tour begins with the pick-up by your guide and driver at the main Puno port or at your hotel (at 3:00 pm). Then you’ll head to the archaeological site of Sillustani before it closes.

Meet your guide and driver at the Puno port or at your hotel and head directly to Sillustani peninsula on a 45-minute car drive through the most fascinating high plateau landscape.

In the ancient time before the Inca Empire arrival, the Aymara Kingdome Colla flourished in this land that had especial beliefs in the afterlife. Discover the impressive difference between these two different building techniques.   

4:50 PM – Walking uphill through the mausoleums 

On arrival at the Sillustani peninsula, the land of the Colla Kingdome, you’ll hike through the ancient trail and sacred grounds carefully chosen for their spiritual significance.

Along the route you’ll find several towers locally named as “Chullpas” which were used as tombs, inside were buried the Mallku, the king of Colla Kingdome that flourished before the Inca Empire arrival and had especial beliefs in the afterlife.

On the top at the time sun sets over the Andean mountains and the mystery of the ancient resting place and the serene Umayo Lagoon all together combined will leave you in awe.

5:30 PM – Return to Puno

This might a very rushed visit to the Incan mausoleum, just right after the quick exploration; you’ll be on your way back to Puno city and get dropped off at your hotel in Puno city.
