Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this experience.
Stop at: Hotel, Puno port, Uros Floating Islands, Lake Titicaca and Puno, Peru.
3:00 pm – Hotel to Puno port
Your driver and guide will meet you at your hotel then drive to the Puno port on a 15-minute.
3:15 pm – Puno port to Uros Islands
Arriving at Uros Islands
Then after, you onboard your private engine boat and begin your ride towards the floating Islands on a 30-minnute, in which you can absorb the tranquility and stillness of the magnificent Lake Titicaca, only disrupted by the passing of other vessels and the sound of the birds.
As you approach your destination, take note of the large, grass-like reeds growing by the wayside, which are famously used in the construction of the islands you’re about to visit.
Practice your Aymara greetings with your guide, and get ready to meet the Uros people, who are eagerly waiting to receive you.
3:45 pm – Guided Tour of the Floating Islands
Uros Islands
On arrival, you’ll be helped down onto dry reed land, and shown around one of the one hundred floating islands in Lake Titicaca National Reserve.
Your guide briefly explains you about the process of building their reed houses and Islands which dates back from ancient time. Your guide and a local quickly perform how they are built using a model while you sit on a reed log.
You’ll see the way they live, and learn from your guide just how vital the Totora reed is for this community. Later, you have the chance to purchase souvenirs or ride a typical reed boat, if you’d like to contribute to the friendly family.
Sunset over Uros Islands
Finally, the most awaited moment will arrive: the sunset. You’ll see a magical moment when the color of the sky changes slightly as the sun sets over the Lake and Puno city.
6:15 pm – Drop-off at your hotel
Following the sunset, you’ll make your way back to the same port. When approaching Puno city you’ll be delighted by the city light’s reflection on the water, gaining an amazing views.
On arrival at the port, you’ll be picked up by your driver transferred back to your hotel in Puno city.
